Tamarind Lime-Ade

Tamarind is a delicious sweet and tangy fruit packed full of nutrients and minerals and offers a wide range of medicinal benefits.


Tamarind has been show to help reduce heart-related issues, fight free radicals, boost the immune system, suppress appetite (as it increases the serotonin neurotransmitter), boost metabolism, improve nerve function and promote a health digestive system. The list goes on!


Indulge in this nutrient-rich, alkaline, sweet and tangy drink this summer.


Ingredients

2 cups tamarind

6 dates

8 freshly squeezed limes (or 16 key limes)

¼ cup cilantro/mint leaves

8-10 cups water

Tinctures (optional)


Tools:

64oz jar (for storage)

Blender or food processor


Instructions

  1. Soak tamarind and dates in 3 cups hot water. Set for 15 mins.

  2. After about 15 minutes, remove shells and seeds from tamarind and dates.

  3. Blend soaks tamarind and dates in blender or food processor until smooth.

  4. Add blended pulp into pitcher with freshly squeezed limes/key limes, cilantro/mint leaves and 8-10 cups of water.

  5. Chill and serve. 

  6. Optional: add in your favorite tinctures for additional benefits!
